Gateway Policies and Rules for Access AccountsEach user should take the time to become acquainted with the Internet if he/she is not already. Once on the Internet, your actions will be viewed as representative of not only you personally, but of TerraNovaNet as well. Actions of individual users can have a negative impact on every other user. We ask that you, as our user, do your best to be courteous, polite, and responsible. Please report any abuse of the Internet by TerraNovaNet subscribers that you observe to abuse@terranova.net. Following are some policies that will help clarify your responsibilities as our user.
Under no circumstances are any TerraNovaNet accounts to be used for illegal activity. Any account found to be using the TerraNovaNet gateway for illegal or unethical purposes will be immediately suspended until the systems administrator can complete a thorough investigation. Subscribers found guilty of such activities (including unsolicited bulk email applications) will have their accounts terminated and a public statement describing the activities will be made to other providers. Please report any abuse of the Internet by TerraNovaNet subscribers that you observe to abuse@terranova.net.
Harassment will not be tolerated in any fashion. Harassment is defined as any willful, malicious action against another subscriber, network representative or Internet user. TerraNovaNet reserves the right to determine whether a specific action or group of actions is harassment. Offenders will be warned once, after which the offender's account will be terminated and a public statement describing the activities will be made to other providers. Please report any abuse of the Internet by TerraNovaNet subscribers that you observe to abuse@terranova.net.
Under no circumstances are TerraNovaNet accounts to be used by any other entity or resold in any way.
Unlimited Access is defined as unrestricted Internet Access during interactive computer sessions. TerraNovaNet offers Dedicated Access Accounts. Please see Business Rates & Services.
The Internet is as diverse as the nonvirtual universe. It is not possible for TerraNovaNet to monitor or filter the information made available through the TerraNovaNet gateway. Also, it is not the policy of TerraNovaNet to screen information for potentially offensive material. TerraNovaNet takes no responsibility for the content of information available on the Internet. TerraNovaNet shall in no way be held responsible for material found through the use of its facilities. The views and opinions represented on TerraNovaNet through its newsgroups, World Wide Web pages, mail, posts, or discussion groups are not necessarily the views of TerraNovaNet or its staff.
TerraNovaNet maintains confidentiality of all information stored in accounts on its machines. Any material stored on TerraNovaNet machines is assumed to be private. TerraNovaNet shall in no way be held liable for the use of or reliance on information obtained through the TerraNovaNet gateway or from any damages that may occur from said use or reliance.
Under no circumstances is the subscriber to deliberately damage, overload, or sabotage TerraNovaNet hardware or facilities. Any such action discovered by a system administrator will result in the immediate termination of that subscriber's account as well as a public statement concerning that activity to other providers.
While TerraNovaNet does not in any way discourage the use of the Internet for business activities, certain Internet services are intended for two way communication and not as a medium for broadcast. The sending of email to large numbers of users who have not requested information (unsolicited mass email) and the cross-posting of a message to more than five newsgroups simultaneously in Usenet news are considered to be abusing the Internet and will not be tolerated. To make commercial information available on the Internet, the use of the World Wide Web is the recommended medium, as well as an occasional news post in Usenet newsgroups where your message is on topic for that group. Failure to abide by these etiquette standards for news and email may result in the suspension of service.
TerraNovaNet reserves the right to suspend an account for any reason, at any time, and without notice to any subscriber. Should such a suspension take place, the subscriber will be notified within 48 hours as to the reason for the suspension.
