This page will show you screenprints in order to walk you through setting up your email using Outlook Express.
Opening "Accounts" in the Tools menu
Click on the "Tools" menu in the upper lefthand corner of your browser and select "Accounts", as shown in the image below:

Creating a new Mail Account
Select the Mail tab at the top of the Accounts window. On the right side, click on the button labeled Add and select Mail from the list that appears beside it, as shown in the image below.

This begins a wizard for setting up a new Mail Account.
Internet Connection Wizard
On the first page, you need to enter your name, as you would like it to appear on your outgoing email, as shown in the image below. (When other people receive email from you, this is the name they are going to see.) Click "Next" once you have entered your name.

On the second page, you enter your email address. This will consist of your username plus @terranova.net, as shown in the image below. Click "Next" once you have entered your email address.

On the third page you will set the email server specifications. First, you should select POP3 as the type of incoming mail server. Next, in the blank titled Incoming mail (POP3 or IMAP) server: you should type in mail.terranova.net. The Outgoing mail (SMTP) server: should be set the same, with mail.terranova.net, as shown in the image below. Click on the "Next" button to continue.

On the fourth page you set your email login. Select the radio button labeled Log on using:, and enter your username and password in the blanks labeled Username: and Password:, as shown in the image below. Click on the "Next" button to continue.

On the fifth page you choose a name to identify this email account in the Accounts window. This name is only for you to see, but let's call it mail.terranova.net, since it does that for you automatically, as shown in the image below. Click on the "Next" button to continue.

On the sixth page you choose your connection type. Select the radio button labeled I will establish my Internet connection manually, as shown in the image below. Click on the "Next" button to continue.

The seventh page informs you that you have completed the wizard. Click on the "Finish" button to complete the wizard, as shown in the image below.

You now have your Email Account established in Outlook Express.
Changing the Sending Format
Click on the "Tools" menu in the upper lefthand corner of your browser and select "Accounts", as shown in the image below:

Select the tab labeled Send. In the first section, labeled Mail sending format , select the radio button labeled Plain Text , as shown in the image below.

Checking the Dial Up method
Select the tab labeled Dial Up. In the first section, labeled When Outlook Express starts , select the radio button labeled Do not dial a connection. Below that, click off the check box labeled Hang up when finished sending, receiving, or downloading , as shown in the image below.

You should now have your email client setup correctly. Click on the Apply button to save the changes we have made. Then click on the OK button to return to the program.
